Join us to hear Suyi Davies Okungbowa, author of David Mogo, Godhunter (Abaddon, $9.99).

David Mogo, Godhunter brings Nigerian Orisha mythology to life with skill and humor, creating a reluctant yet lovable hero of demigod David Mogo, who scours the city's dank underbelly for a living wage as a freelance Godhunter. Since the Orisha War that rained thousands of deities down on the streets of Lagos, David Mogo has been tasked with eliminating the fallen gods before the city is seized by a wizard controlling a legion of feral godling-child hybrids. Enlisting the help of his friends, he sets off with his foster wizard, the high god's twin sister, and a speech-impaired Muslim teenage girl to defeat the wizard in this fantastic adventure of gods and mortals.

Suyi Davies Okungbowa is a Nigerian author of stories featuring African gods, starships, monsters, detectives, and everything in-between. His internationally published fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Lightspeed, Fireside, Podcastle, The Dark, Mothership Zeta, Omenana, Ozy, Brick Moon Fiction, and other periodicals and anthologies. He is an MFA candidate and writing teacher at the University of Arizona and has worked in editorial at Podcastle and Sonora Review.

"A riveting debut... this story is captivating."
Publishers Weekly
"I did not know I was a fan of the Nigerian Godpunk genre, but this book convinced me!"
Horner's Book Corner
"A number of books have been termed 'godpunk, ' but Suyi Davies Okungbowa's novel may be the subgenre's platonic deific ideal, from its title to its plot to its terse but vivid prose... Assured and arch, unsettling and thoroughly enjoyable--an auspicious debut from one of the most promising new voices in the growing coterie of African Sci-Fi/Fantasy writers."
