George Orwell's "1984" has proven to remain incredibly relevant, even now, 75 years after its initial release. The novel follows Winston, a member of "the party," as he begins to question the reality he has known for much of his life. The more questions he has, the more doubts fill his thoughts as he finds it increasingly difficult to maintain a facade of belief and submission to the totalitarian government that controls his world.

With the political turmoil and polarization that nations around the globe currently face, "1984" is definitely worth a read with its parallels to real-world conflicts and warning of the dangers of surveillance states, destruction of community, trust, and the alteration of history and information.
