Women's Words: A Glimpse Into the Creative Process

Join us for a unique glimpse into the creative process with writers of fiction, memoir, nonfiction, and poetry. The authors will read from their current work, discuss their process and influences, and provide a reading list of their best writing resources.

Penelope Starr founded Odyssey Storytelling in 2004. She is the author The Radical Act of Community Storytelling: Empowering Voices in Uncensored Events. Her passions are helping communities create their own storytelling events and finishing a novel in linked short stories. See her website for more.

Molly McCloy is a three-time NYC Moth StorySLAM winner with work published in Nerve, Swink, and Slate. She has taught Creative Nonfiction and Storytelling classes for Pima Community College, and will be teaching an online Creative Nonfiction course for the upcoming 2018 Fall term. Edie Jarolim is the author of three travel guides, one dog guide, and one memoir. She has published hundreds of articles, in outlets including the New York Times Book Review and the Wall Street Journal. She is the Contributing Dining Editor for Tucson Guide and currently teaches food writing at the University of Arizona.

Maggie Golston is a poet, singer-songwriter, former bookstore owner, and Pima West Campus Faculty member in English and Humanities. Her publications include Spork, Kore Press, and Ploughshares. She was a National Poetry Series finalist, and is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee.
