Other Voices Women's Reading Series

This month’s featured readers are two prizewinning writers,
Melissa Buckheit and Shannon Cain.

Melissa Buckheit is a poet and the author of Noctilucent, published in March 2012.  She is the recipient of the American Poets Honorary Award, a Grossbardt Prize, and her poetry has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes.

Shannon Cain’s short story collection, The Necessity of Certain Behaviors, is the winner of the 2011 Drue Heinz Prize for Literature.  Her stories have received the O. Henry Prize, two Pushcart Prizes, and a fellowship from the NEA. She is a writing coach and manuscript consultant and is currently on faculty in the MFA program at Bennington College.
