Fenton Johnson and Lydia Millet

Fenton Johnson, author of Everywhere Home: A Life in Essays (Sarabande, $15.95), will be reading alongside Pulitzer Prize finalist Lydia Millet, who will share new work.

In a collection of 26 essays spanning thirty years and a lifetime of experiences, from growing up Catholic in Kentucky to bearing witness to the plague years of the AIDS crisis, local author Fenton Johnson contemplates questions of identity, belonging, and belief. Part-retrospective, part-memoir, Johnson explores a variety of subjects as he takes measure of his experience and the world around him with honesty, clarity and thoughtfulness. These essays trust in the power of communication to build the capacity for change.

Lydia Millet, author of Sweet Lamb of Heaven and many other award-winning novels, will share new work from a collection coming out in summer 2018 called Fight No More. Millet is a novelist and short-story writer known for her dark humor, idiosyncratic characters and language, and strong interest in the relationship between humans and other animals. She now lives in Tucson, where she writes and works in wildlife conservation.
