Máighréad was born in Newcastle West, Ireland. Since the publication of her first collection in 1990, she has become widely known for popularizing performance poetry in Ireland. She has performed at a large number of venues internationally, as well as publishing four poetry collections and writing three novels. Lori studied economics and currently works as a computer systems analyst. In 2001, she was awarded first place in the West Virginia Emerging Writers Poetry Competition. Her poetry has appeared in a variety of literary journals and publications, including the new anthology, Along These Rivers. House Where a Woman is her first published book.
