About the Author
"Big Jim" Griffith, internationally recognized folklorist and former director of the Southwest Folklore Center at the University of Arizona, has studied traditional folkways and religious expression through the American Southwest and northern Mexico for more than four decades. In 2011 Jim was named a National Heritage Fellow by the National Endowment for the Arts, for his contribution to the preservation and awareness of cultural heritage. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
